OMRON introduces the VHV5-F next generation barcode reader

The VHV5-F delivers exceptional performance for any code, any application, any operator, and any production line, with built-in code quality monitoring.

OMRON has launched the new VHV5-F high-performance barcode reader—a next generation in code reading—that combines advanced imaging, intelligent decoding, and ultra-fast processing. Built with a multi-core processing engine, NPU (Neural Processing Unit) for AI acceleration, high-speed sensors, and the advanced X-Mode 6.0 decoding algorithm, the VHV5- achieves 99.99% read rates out of the box. The intelligent reader can process up to 4,000 and verify up to 1,200 parts per minute. With pipelined acquisition and parallel processing, the VHV5-F ensures seamless real-time decoding of even the most challenging DPM (direct part mark) codes.

The VHV5-F is designed for a wide range of industries, including food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, automotive, logistics, electronics, and high-speed printing. Its long-range autofocus capabilities, reaching up to 2 meters, allow seamless barcode reading in high-speed conveyor systems, robotic assembly lines, and warehouse scanning applications. Thanks to the 2.3MP and 5MP sensor options and a choice of four high-speed autofocus lenses, the VHV5-F ensures maximum flexibility. Its optical system features ultra-bright strobe lighting with optional diffusers and polarizers to ensure high-contrast imaging in challenging conditions.

For easy setup, the VHV5-F introduces the Smart Assist Mode, which automatically applies the relevant advanced parameters and images enhancement filters  to maximize readability. The ‘Learn All Codes’ functionality simplifies multi-code applications by detecting and configuring multiple barcode types without manual intervention. For production lines handling specific part types, the Optimize Mode enhances decoding performance, ensuring greater read consistency and efficiency.

Housed in a rugged IP69K-rated enclosure, the VHV5-F is built to withstand dust, water, and harsh industrial environments. It supports PoE (IEEE http://802.At ) and 24 VDC power supply, with multiple mounting options for flexible installation. With connectivity options including EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, TCP/IP, RS-232, and IEEE1588 PTP, it seamlessly integrates into both modern and legacy automation systems.

The VHV5-F goes beyond just reading codes—it also provides ISO 15416, 15415, and 29158 code verification tools, offering real-time readability scores (0-99). This ensures traceability compliance while helping manufacturers detect and resolve barcode quality issues before they affect production.
