RoHS Directive

At OMRON, we are committed to environmental responsibility. In line with our values and the expectations of our customers, we ensure that our wide range of industrial components complies with the EU RoHS Directive.

About RoHS

RoHS refers to Directive 2011/65/EU, also known as RoHS 2, which governs the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (EEE). This directive was further amended by Directive (EU) 2015/863, which expanded the list of restricted substances.

RoHS prohibits the placement on the EU market of any new EEE that contains restricted substances above the allowable concentration limits specified in Annex II of the Directive.

Restricted Substances (Annex II)

The current list includes 10 substances, with maximum concentration values tolerated by weight in homogeneous materials:

  • Cadmium (Cd): < 0.01% (100 ppm)
  • Lead (Pb): < 0.1% (1000 ppm)
  • Mercury (Hg): < 0.1% (1000 ppm)
  • Hexavalent Chromium (Cr VI): < 0.1% (1000 ppm)
  • Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB): < 0.1% (1000 ppm)
  • Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE): < 0.1% (1000 ppm)
  • Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP): < 0.1% (1000 ppm)
  • Benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP): < 0.1% (1000 ppm)
  • Dibutyl phthalate (DBP): < 0.1% (1000 ppm)
  • Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP): < 0.1% (1000 ppm)

Certain exemptions apply for specific uses, particularly in medical devices and monitoring and control instruments, as outlined in Annexes III and IV of the Directive.

Please refer to the Product Compliance Search for the most up-to-date RoHS information regarding our products. Products not listed may currently be under review.

At OMRON, compliance with all applicable legal obligations is a core part of our corporate culture. We continue to take all necessary steps to fulfil our responsibilities under the EU REACH Regulation.

We are committed to environmental stewardship and full compliance with European legislation.

The improvement of environmental performance throughout the entire lifecycle of products is tackled more effectively when attention is paid to it at the design phase. We constantly monitor the development of this set of Measures and take the necessary actions when required.
