06/07/2010
|
Each year Omron staff commemorate Omron's founders day by taking part in activities which benefit their local society. This year volunteers from Omron UK assisted The National Trust with some gardening at Stowe Landscape Gardens in Buckinghamshire.

What is Omron Day?
|
The Omron Corporation was founded on May 10th 1933 by Kazuma Tateisi and each year in order to commemorate this day and in line with our corporate core value of 'working for the benefit of society', Omron staff get involved in a variety of charitable activities and causes across the globe which benefit their local society. Examples of previous Omron Day activities:
- Volunteering with a local charity to assist with an event
- Taking a group of school children on an outing for the day
- Taking part in a sponsored bike ride for a local charity
- Repainting a homeless shelter

Omron Day 2010 - Volunteering with The National Trust
This year, for our Omron Day activity, Omron UK decided to volunteer with The National Trust for a day. Volunteers from the UK's Industrial Automation and Healthcare divisions went along to Stowe Landscape Gardens in Buckinghamshire on Friday 28th May 2010 to see what The National Trust had for them to do.

Ready for action in gardening gloves and armed with trowels, forks and secateurs, the team cleared the ground around over 200 saplings within the grounds of The New Inn, the focus of The Stowe New Inn renovation project. We also provided a generous donation for the charity to put towards the project.

The 'Stowe New Inn' project
Stowe has inspired writers, philosophers, artists, politicians and members of the public from the 18th century to the present day. The National Trust acquired the gardens in the late 1980s and an ambitious restoration programme has ensured that over 40 temples and monuments remain, in an inspiring backdrop of lakes and valleys with a variety of walks and trails. Stowe Gardens has been visited by tourists and daytrippers for two hundred years and yet no public entrance or standard route to the house was ever established. With 'The Stowe New Inn' project The National Trust are looking to create a new Visitor Centre by renovating the 'New Inn' built in 1717 and it's gardens. This new Visitor Centre will provide visitors with an exciting new gateway to Stowe, recreating the experience of Stowe’s first tourists and offering the glorious views enjoyed by visitors nearly 300 years ago - completion is due in 2011.
