Trajexia in packaging technology: designed by LogicPAK

The versatile, powerful multi-axle continuous path control can be used anywhere in automation technology where decentralised, intelligent servo axles are required. Typical applications are to be found in printing machines and in packaging technology: LogicPAK, Dieburg, for example, has developed an ultra-modern, horizontal sleeve-machine, in which the multi-axle continuous path control has already passed the practical test.

New machine type

The LPK-type machine, which is particularly suitable for the two-sided sealing of small, oblong products, is constructed on a modular basis and works at high speed with cycles of up to 160 products per minute. Fast format change, a clearly laid out structure and compact design are amongst its particular characteristics. If necessary, this new machine type, which is used, for example, in the cosmetics industry to pack kohl or lip liner pencils, can be expanded at any time with assemblies or peripheral devices.

The main components are the magazine, infeed belt with aligning unit, sleeve unit, removal belt and turning device with heating channel. The products are placed in the magazine, separated automatically and taken to the sleeve unit. At the same time, the plastic film is prepared before being pushed over the product and shrunk.

Trajexia

The fact that these automated processes run quickly and smoothly is due to the motion control system Trajexia. It controls and synchronises the servo drives for the magazine, infeed and removal lines and the complete plastic film handling. The correct alignment of the product with the film slave, for example, is captured using an image processing system and can be corrected during ongoing operation via the continuous path control. For this, the drives communicate via the high-speed drive bus system Mechatrolink II. The frequency converters for the film handling, the frequency converters for the heating-channel ventilators and the associated temperature regulators are also integrated into this bus network. Corrections to the programme sequence, format changes or other modifications to the packaging process can thus be carried out quickly and easily.
