AWB secures machine safety |
As for the automobile industry, the focus on machine safety issues is on a much higher level to protect human beings from being hurt. A perfect example is this machine from the company AWB (Ahlener Werkzeug- und Vorrichtungsbau GmbH & Co. KG) in Ahlen/Germany.

Two meter high light curtain
This machine is designed to finish fuel injection tubes with the necessary precise holes and valves. The protection of users and operators played an essential role in the development. On both sides of the tool machine a safety light curtain F3S-B from Omron was installed. The large area covered with the almost 2 meter high light curtain ensures full protection and prohibits any entering of the protected area by crawling under or reaching with hands above the covered area. In this case protection degree type 2 was specified by the customer, but Omron delivers safety light curtains according to degree type 4 as well.
